These are the People in Your Neighborhood is an interactive performance starring students from Ms. Brougham’s and Ms. Furdyk’s Grade 4/5 classes from Dovercourt Public School. Developed through a series of workshops where the class met and interviewed local business owners, the kids take you on a tour of their neighbourhood, introduce you to those owners and give you a copy of their publication based on the project. The performance presents a Sesame Street utopia, where the neighborhood is a village, not just a place to live.
The tour was designed by Toronto-based performance company Mammalian Diving Reflex, Brisbane-based Contact Inc., Toronto-based Madeleine Collective, and the teaching staff at Dovercourt Public School.
- Meeting Place: In front of St. Anthony’s Church, 1041 Bloor St. W. (Bloor Street West and Rusholme Road)
- End Location: Close to Ossington Subway Station
- Public Transit Directions: The tour is located on Bloor Street West between the Dufferin and Ossington subway stations.
