It’s no secret that Mayor Ford and some Councillors are gambling with the idea of building a new casino in Toronto. City Council will likely be voting on this in March and April. Many of us have been speaking out against casinos. We cannot afford the social and economic costs of a casino in Toronto. Gambling on casinos is not a responsible or sustainable solution to any government’s budget problems and it’s not a bet Toronto should make.
Over the last few months multi-national casino owners and lobbyists have been walking the halls here at City Hall (if you’re curious, take a peak at the lobbyist registry here). We now have a group of Torontonians that care about our city, standing up to say no to a casino in Toronto. They have a petition at www.nocasinotoronto.com.
Please spread the word about their website and encourage your friends and family across the City to sign the petition to stop a Toronto Casino.
